Who We Are

Islington Community Theatre was set up in September 2008 to run Islington Youth Theatre and to create new participative arts activities for people - young and old - across the borough.  We are a rapidly expanding member-led charity (number 1130953) and rely on our links with arts organisations, schools, businesses, charities and individuals to continue to develop our work.

Our key project is Islington Youth Theatre, which was originally founded in 2002.  Since forming as a charity in 2008, we have increased the number of young people working with us through various projects from 25 to more than 125 every week.

As well as ad hoc professional productions and other projects, we run two further strands of work:

  • With schools, through Raising Stakes, a project supporting GCSE students and their teachers, and bespoke collaborative projects linking other charities and other organisations with young people in Islington.
  • With adults through our Community strand.  Work is currently underway on a major year long project bringing 100 radically different groups together to perform tiny plays about themselves.

For more information about Islington Community Theatre, please contact us.

Islington Community Theatre's design and art direction is very generously produced by *Frink design.
