So what happened at last weeks IAMs Oracle? Well, the young people begun the session playing an epic game of WAH to warm up and then the real fun began! Only TWO WEEKS left until the first viewing of the readerthon don... The final script was in and the young people, with the parts they were given last week, began a read through of the show. It was great to hear the piece come to life!! Towards the end we began to block the first scene `The announcement`... but more on that later! (Its a secret)

It's going to be great, so to those at IAMs Oracle: keep up the good work!

Ta Ra for now!!

We have now properly started rehearsals for the Readathon Don. The show is only a few weeks away and we need to put our all into everything. We practiced the song this week learning the verses and trying to make the song sound the best it could. We sang the song with power and added a few clicks for the entrance.

Hope everyone knows the song for our next session.

It was the first week back after half term and it was great to see the young people willing to get stuck in. After playing a few games and getting warmed up, the young people discovered who they were going to play in the show! It was all very exciting.

They were then split up in to three groups to work on the first three scenes... now I know you would like me to reveal what happens but, for now, Im keeping it all hush hush. All I can say is it promises to be an exciting and magical piece of work :)

The script is done. The parts allocated. Three weeks till the first showing of 'The Readerthon Don'...

Till next time,

Had a very fun session this week. Everyone came back from half term and ready to perform with high spirits. The first thing we done was go through the steps of the tap dance. Then...*drum roll* the girls were given their parts for one scene of the play. Everyone was then split into their groups which represented the different parts of the scene and they created 3-4 still images. These were then presented back to everyone. Which I really enjoyed watching and could see that the girls enjoyed making their scenes. They felt their ideas were being used to create the still images. Can't wait for next week when we'll get to polish the scenes.

See y'all then

We started off by playing a small tournament of zip zap zoom and had a go at David’s version of ‘Splat’ which included such instructions as ‘ballerina’ and James Bond’.

Then, split in to three groups, the young people began to develop the scenes. One group had ‘The Announcement’ and another had ‘Making It Up’, the last had ‘Are You Telling Me?’ It was great to see all the young people working together to develop the material and all the scenes were very interesting. Having been at EGA Oracle on the Thursday, working on the ‘Readerthon Don’ song it was really great to see how all the different scenes would fit together.

Looking forward to our first showing at the end of March… not long to go now!!!

We were joined by the lovely Hannah this week who taught us the beginning of the Readathon Don song. Everyone showcased their singing techniques really well and worked hard to fit it together with the tap dance we learnt last week. We had also brought in a few instruments and as we danced and sang the song a few girls played the instruments. In all it was a great session.

See you all soon.

ORACLE @ IAMS - SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY 13

This week’s session was brilliant. We began by getting everyone to fill in their name tags and after Dre had filled in the final week on the timeline the young people took it in turns to read out all the things we have done over the weeks. It was a good surprise to see all the work we have been doing!

We then sang ‘Ibrahim’s song’ (this is how it is known as it is a pretty tricky song to give a title to… though I’m sure there is one) and had a big game of zip, zap, zoom.

Then, it was time to begin our piece. The Readerthon Don has now, officially, begun!! We worked on the opening scene, and, as I don’t want to reveal too much all I will say is it contains many different languages, voice and best of all great acting.

The young people all seem very excited about it, fingers crossed it will be spectacular!

TTFN,

This week we were exploring sound. As always whilst everyone came into the room some of the girls were writing on the time line recapping all that we had done last week. We were starting to explore the new play, The Readathon Don. Sticking to the theme of sound we played some warm up games where we counted from one to seven and then the numbers were replaced with an action and sound.

Following on from this Tina taught us a little tap dance which would be used in the Readathon Don. We then split into three groups and came up with five different powers that the Readathon Don would have, some included, flying, being cool, morphing, eating poison. All of these traits were very interesting. These powers were then given a clear action to represent them. Ola then went through with everyone the song for the Readathon Don, and all three aspects were combined.

The girls practiced the tap dance that Tina had taught, whilst singing the Readathon Don song and included their powers for the Readathon Don.

Can't wait to do some more exploring on the Readathon Don. See y'all next week.
