Current & Future Productions

Following an incredibly hectic summer period in which we produced four different shows at three different venues with more than 130 performers, we're currently planning and developing our next shows.

Work in development includes two new productions, as well as our second 'Beginnings' new writing project, a chilly winter showcase and three experimental collaborations with some of the UK's most exciting young companies.

We'll be posting information about all of these projects, and more, here soon.

In the meantime, you might want to check out our past productions or our production gallery.

Mixed up lives and scrambled stories
Tiny scratch plays created by Islington Youth Theatre, Work in Progress and the Oracle Project

1st and 3rd July 2010, Pleasance Theatre Islington

A pack of cyclists with blood on their spokes.
Five school girls (or is it 15?) pregnant at the same time.
A gang of children hunting for a vampire.
A girl who only talks to a tape recorder.

In preparation for a new season of high quality, exciting work by young people, Tangled was a festival of mixed up lives and scrambled stories.

Our 3 main young companies gathered to perform 12 new plays about what happens when humans make choices together: mass hysteria, collective action and pacts.  Each scratch play was presented as a work in development.

Islington Youth Theatre

THE PACT

Created by the company
With Tanya Ronder & Ned Glasier

The Pact has been one of IYT’s most challenging and, at times, difficult projects.  For the last six months we’ve been exploring the incredible story of an alleged American high school pregnancy pact and trying to find a way to transpose it to life in a London school.  Progress has been at times really exciting, at others slow and frustrating.  We all agree it’s a wonderful, captivating story, but it’s also full of pitfalls and we’re still working hard on how best to fully do justice to it.

Performers:  Aaron Miller, Aidan Robertson, Aisha Issahaku-Ajona, Antoine Bertin-Azille, Carolyn Palmer-Marshall, Daniel Adekitan, Diego Alejandro, Heaven Yemane, Jemima Issahaku-Ajona, Kai Blyth-Foster, Louis Clarke, Millie Law, Mirela Gega, Phoebe Burrows, Robert Ristic, Rossano Dias, Sammy Amokrane, Sean Dottin, Sophie Thomas, Sophie Smith, Tolu Ayeyemi
