Young Associates

A key part of Islington Community Theatre's management structure is our Young Associates, four young people aged 18-21 who spend a year with us working two days a week as theatre-makers and producers across all of our projects.

Each Young Associate is a young person who has applied to be part of the scheme because they need support to make the next step in their life - either directly into the creative arts, or to drama school or university.

Over a year the four young people work and train together to produce their own work, develop skills and experience essential to their future and create new connections within the industry.  They are supported through this by ICT staff and external practitioners.  At the end of the programme they gain an Arts Award Gold Award, which counts towards University applications and each young person is supported to find a mentor to help them through the next stage of their life.

The Young Associates programme is generously funded by the Cripplegate Foundation, the Morris Charitable Trust, the John Thaw Foundation and Knight Frank Islington.
